How to install two sinks in one bathroom
With multiple people trying to get ready for work or school at the same time, the bathroom can be a busy place. Installing a vanity with two sinks can help eliminate congestion. The two sinks in a vanity connect to the same supply and drain lines, so no additional plumbing is required because all connections are made inside the vanity cabinet.
Turn off the main water line to the house, then turn on a faucet on the first floor of the house to relieve pressure in the water lines.
Loosen the coupling on one of the existing water valves with an adjustable wrench while holding the valve with a second adjustable wrench. Pull the valve off the pipe, followed by the sleeve and coupling. Slide a coupling from a dual supply valve onto the tubing, followed by the ferrule of the new valve. Position the new valve over the end of the hose and tighten the coupling with an adjustable wrench while holding the new valve with the other wrench. Repeat the process with the other supply valve.
Place a new faucet in the mounting holes of one of the two sinks in the two-sink vanity top. Screw the mounting nuts onto the nipples under the sink to secure the faucet to the sink. Tighten the nuts with large combination pliers. Connect one end of a water supply line to the left nipple (hot water) of the faucet using an adjustable wrench, then connect the other end of the line to one of the two outlets of the dual outlet valve on the left side (for the hot water supply) that you installed earlier.
Install the faucet on the second sink in the same manner as the first
Connect the tee to the end piece closest to the drain, with the side inlet of the tee facing the drain of the second sink. Connect the trap to the drain line in the wall and the bottom of the tee, and hand tighten the couplings to secure the trap. Hold the elbow and extension pipe between the drain of the second sink and the tee, and mark where the extension needs to be cut to fit into the tee. Using a hacksaw, cut the extension at the mark, then insert the cut end into the tee and the elbow into the end piece of the second sink. Twist the coupling onto the T-fitting and elbow to secure the line. Tighten all drain couplings with sliding pliers.
Turn on the main water line to the house, followed by the two double outlet valves in the vanity. Then turn on the two faucets and look under the sink for any leaks.
